Classic india Rice: Introduction & Basic Cooking Method

Zeeba Classic India Rice is a premium variety of basmati rice known for its extra-long grains, natural aroma, and fluffy texture after cooking. Grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, this rice is aged for 1–2 years, which enhances its taste, aroma, and cooking quality.

  • 1 cup Zeeba Classic Basmati Rice

  • 1¾ cups water

  • 1 tbsp oil or ghee

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 1 small onion (sliced)

  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, peas, beans, etc.)

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional: cinnamon stick, cloves, green chili

  • 🔥 Instructions:

  • Rinse and soak:
    Rinse the basmati rice 2–3 times and soak for 15–20 minutes. Drain before cooking.

  • Sauté spices:
    Heat oil or ghee in a pot. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and optional spices. Let them sizzle for a few seconds.

  • Cook onions & veggies:
    Add sliced onions and sauté until golden. Then add vegetables and cook for 2–3 minutes.

  • Add rice & water:
    Add the drained rice and sauté gently for 1–2 minutes. Then add water and salt.

  • Cook:
    Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 12–15 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and rice is tender.

  • Rest & fluff:
    Let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff gently with a fork.
